High waist comic strip panel leggings for women. A full comic book page layout across both legs: individual panels with black borders containing superhero action scenes, teal creature elements, BOOM, BAM and WOOSH sound effects, explosion clouds and halftone dot screens. Four-way stretch, moisture-wicking performance fabric. A comic book worn as a legging.
Most comic-inspired leggings scatter sound effect words and explosion shapes across a single background. These do something considerably more considered: the entire surface of both legs is structured as a comic book page, with clearly defined panel borders creating a grid of individual scenes just as a printed comic would look when laid flat. The difference is significant. Where a scatter design feels energetic and random, a panel grid design feels intentional, like you are actually wearing a page of a comic.
The content within each panel is drawn in a genuine comic book action style: a blue-costumed superhero figure in dynamic poses, large teal and green monster or creature hands reaching across panel borders, BOOM, BAM, WOOSH and SPLASH sound effects in thick outlined lettering, explosion and smoke clouds, blue speed lines, wave forms and the classic halftone dot screens in pink and yellow that define the offset printing aesthetic of the comic book form. It is busy, colourful and completely unapologetic about it.
The fabric is the same 88% polyester and 12% spandex performance blend used across this range. Four-way stretch, moisture-wicking and squat-proof construction make these as suited to the gym as to a Comic Con, a festival or anywhere else the print will be appreciated. At £14.99 with free UK delivery, they are one of the most detailed and genuinely designed pop art prints in this entire collection.
About the Print Design
The design draws directly from the visual language and physical format of the printed comic book. A comic book page is made up of panels: rectangular or irregular frames separated by gutters, each containing a single moment or scene from the story. The sequence of panels creates movement and narrative. This design takes that structure and applies it across the full surface of both legs, from waistband to ankle, so that wearing the leggings is like wearing a page from an action comic.
The panels are defined by bold black borders that create a clear grid structure across the fabric. Each panel contains its own scene or element. The superhero figure in a blue costume appears across several panels in different action poses, referencing the way a character moves through panels in a real comic sequence. Large teal and green creature or monster hands reach across panel boundaries in some sections, a technique common in action comics to convey a sense of scale and threat. The panel borders are occasionally broken by elements that spill over the edge, which is another authentic comic book storytelling device.
The sound effect typography covers multiple panels. BOOM appears in the classic explosion cloud style with outlined block lettering. BAM, WOOSH and SPLASH are set in dynamic angled type with motion lines and radiating energy behind them, exactly as they would appear in a vintage or modern action comic. The colour palette runs consistently across all panels: primary red, deep blue, teal, bright yellow, pink halftone and black on a white base, which is precisely the limited colour palette of offset-printed comics before digital production became standard.
The halftone dot screens that fill backgrounds in many of the panels are a defining visual element of the classic comic book style. They were originally a printing artefact caused by the screen printing process used in offset lithography, and they became so associated with the comic book aesthetic that they are now reproduced deliberately as a design choice. Their presence across multiple panels in this design signals a genuine understanding of the medium rather than just borrowing its surface vocabulary.
The print covers every panel front and back and is embedded directly into the fabric. It does not crack, peel or fade with correct care and washing.
How This Differs from the Comic Blast Pop Art Leggings
Both designs in this range draw from comic book and pop art aesthetics, but they are distinct products with a different character and approach. The Comic Blast Pop Art Leggings use a scatter composition on a white base: individual sound effect words, explosion shapes and cartoon objects distributed loosely across the surface in the style of Roy Lichtenstein-era pop art. The emphasis is on graphic energy and individual elements.
These Comic Strip Panel Leggings use a structured panel grid that replicates the actual format of a printed comic book page, complete with panel borders, a recurring superhero character and narrative continuity between panels. The emphasis is on the comic book as a medium rather than comic imagery as a design element. If the Comic Blast design references pop art inspired by comics, this design references the comics themselves.

Fabric and Performance
The fabric is an 88% polyester and 12% spandex blend. Polyester provides the durable, smooth surface that keeps the print sharp across all the fine panel border lines and detailed halftone screen areas, dries fast after exercise and maintains the structure of the fabric through repeated washing. On a design with this much fine detail and this many distinct colour areas, the quality of the polyester weave determines whether the panel borders stay crisp or blur at stretch points over time. Spandex provides the four-way elasticity that keeps the leggings comfortable through training sessions and extended wear.
The moisture-wicking technology draws perspiration away from the skin as it forms, spreads it across the fabric and evaporates it quickly. This keeps the leggings comfortable throughout a training session rather than becoming heavy or uncomfortable as intensity increases. For more on how the blend performs, see our guide to spandex blend performance fabric.
The Waistband
The high-rise elasticated waistband sits wide and flat across the lower abdomen without cutting in or rolling down during movement or extended wear. It holds its position through training sessions and full day wear without shifting or losing its grip. The high-rise fit gives a smooth silhouette under fitted tops and keeps the leggings in place throughout any activity. It is made from the same stretch fabric as the rest of the legging rather than a separate rigid insert, so it moves naturally with the body.
What Are They Good For?
Gym and training: Four-way stretch, moisture-wicking and squat-proof performance hold up during training sessions, yoga and running. The comic book panel detail gives any gym session a visual energy that a plain legging cannot match.
Comic Con and cosplay: The panel grid design and superhero character content make these a natural fit for comic conventions and cosplay events. They work as a standalone pop art outfit piece or as part of a more specific character build. The performance fabric means they are comfortable to wear for a full convention day.
Festivals: The dense, multicoloured panel composition reads well in both natural daylight and artificial lighting. The primary red, blue and teal palette is bold enough to hold its own in any festival setting without needing additional accessories.
Casual street style: The structured panel grid gives these a more considered quality than a scatter print, which means they work in street style contexts beyond purely novelty or event wear.
How to Style Them
- Gym or training: Plain white, black or primary red fitted top. White creates a tonal tie to the white panel backgrounds. Red picks up the dominant colour in the panels. Either way, keep the top single colour so the panel grid carries the look.
- Comic Con or cosplay: These work either as a standalone pop art outfit or as a base for a superhero costume. Add a cape, mask or matching bodysuit colour to lean into the superhero character in the panels.
- Festival: Cropped white or black jacket, white trainers. The panel grid reads clearly from a distance and the primary colour palette stands out without needing anything additional.
- Casual street style: Oversized white or pale blue tee, white or red trainers. The structured panel design is considered enough to work as a street style piece with a simple top above it.

Care Instructions
The fine panel borders and the multiple distinct colour areas in this design need consistent care to stay sharp. See our guide to caring for polyester clothing for a full guide to maintaining printed activewear.
- Hand wash in cool water. Machine washing is too abrasive for a print of this complexity and will cause the fine panel borders to lose definition over time.
- Turn inside out before washing. This protects the print surface from friction and is the most effective single step for preserving both the fine line work and the colour vibrancy.
- Wash separately from other garments on the first few washes as the dyes may transfer slightly until fully set.
- Do not use bleach. Bleach damages the print and breaks down the spandex fibres.
- Do not use fabric softener. It reduces the moisture-wicking performance of the polyester fibres over time.
- Hang to dry at room temperature away from direct sunlight. UV exposure causes fading, particularly in the vivid primary red and blue tones in this design.
- Do not tumble dry.
- If pressing is needed, use a cool iron on the reverse side only. Do not apply heat directly to the print surface.
