High waist bohemian elephant mandala leggings for women. All-over Indian folk art inspired print with a decorative elephant, dense mandala florals and a full rainbow colour palette. Four-way stretch, moisture-wicking performance fabric and a 3D cut that gives a flattering shape. Built for yoga, the gym and everyday boho style.
These leggings bring together two things that rarely appear in the same product: a genuinely detailed and culturally inspired print, and a performance fabric that holds up through serious training. The design is built around a large decorative elephant drawn in Indian folk art style, surrounded by one of the most densely patterned mandala compositions you will find on a pair of leggings. Every inch of fabric from waistband to ankle is covered in colour.
They are also cut differently from a standard legging. A 3D cut construction shapes the seat and hips more generously than a flat-cut pattern, which gives a better fit across a wider range of body shapes and a more flattering silhouette when worn. The 88% polyester and 12% spandex fabric is pill-resistant, fade-resistant and holds its shape after repeated washing. At £14.99 with free UK delivery, these represent a lot of legging for the price.
About the Print Design
The design draws from Indian folk art and the mandala tradition, two visual languages with deep roots in South Asian culture and a long history in global bohemian and yoga-inspired fashion. The central element on the front is a large elephant rendered in a pale sky blue, with a curling trunk and a calm, dignified expression. The elephant is styled in a way that references the ornate decorative treatment of elephants in Indian festival and temple art, with its body and surroundings filled with pattern rather than left plain.
Surrounding the elephant is one of the most detailed mandala and botanical compositions in this range. Large lotus-style flowers in pink, magenta, orange and yellow sit alongside dense leaf forms in multiple shades of green, teal and olive. Paisley shapes, spiral motifs, fan-patterned petals, scrollwork vines and layered circular mandala elements fill every remaining section of the print. The colour palette is extraordinary in its range: blues, purples, pinks, oranges, yellows, reds, multiple greens and teals, all set against a black background that makes each colour read at maximum vibrancy.
The back view removes the elephant head and replaces it with an even denser all-over mandala and botanical composition. Large ornate blooms and leaf clusters cover the seat and thigh area, with swirling botanical detail continuing all the way to the ankle. Viewed from behind, the print reads as a continuous immersive garden of colour with no visible repeat or break.
As with all designs in this range, the print is embedded directly into the fabric rather than applied on top. It does not crack, peel, pill or fade with correct care and washing.
Features
3D Cut vs Standard Cut
Most printed leggings are cut from a flat pattern. The seat and hip panels are straight pieces of fabric stitched together, which means the fit across the seat can feel tight or pull in the wrong direction depending on your body shape. These leggings use a 3D cut construction, where the rear panels are shaped to follow the natural contour of the hips and seat more closely.
- 3D cut rear panels shaped to the hips
- Wide waistband with waist protection
- High stretch fabric that wraps and holds
- Visually slimming close fit
- Retains shape after repeated wear and washing
- Flat-cut pattern, less hip shaping
- Waistband can shrink or lose its grip
- Ordinary stretch that loosens over time
- Can deform or bag at the seat and knee
- Prone to pilling and distortion after a few washes
Fabric and Performance
The fabric is an 88% polyester and 12% spandex blend. Polyester provides the base that keeps the print vivid, resists pilling, dries quickly after exercise and maintains its structure through repeated washing. The smooth polyester surface is also what allows a print this detailed and colourful to reproduce cleanly across every part of the leg without losing definition. Spandex provides the four-way stretch and long-term elasticity that keeps the leggings comfortable for extended wear and returns them to their original shape after use.
The high spandex content, combined with the 3D cut construction, means these leggings hug the body without compressing it uncomfortably. They sit close without feeling tight, which is particularly important in a yoga or pilates session where the fabric needs to move through a full range of motion without creating resistance or pulling.
The moisture-wicking technology pulls sweat away from the skin as it forms, spreads it across a wider area of fabric and evaporates it quickly. This keeps the leggings feeling dry and light throughout a session rather than becoming heavy or uncomfortable as you work harder. For more on how the polyester and spandex blend performs in active wear, see our guide to spandex blend performance fabric.
What Are They Good For?
The mandala and elephant aesthetic makes these a natural fit for yoga and wellness-focused activities, but the performance fabric means they hold up well across a much wider range of use:
Yoga and pilates: This is where the design fits most naturally. The mandala and elephant print has strong associations with yoga culture and the 3D cut gives a flattering, secure fit through every pose from warrior to downward dog. The four-way stretch handles deep hip openers and forward folds without restriction, and the high waistband stays in place through inversions.
Gym and training: The moisture-wicking fabric and four-way stretch perform well across gym sessions, HIIT and running. The squat-proof construction stays opaque under gym lighting and the close fit does not shift during heavier lower body work.
Festivals and bohemian events: The all-over mandala and elephant print is a classic festival aesthetic, particularly at spiritually or wellness-oriented festivals. The vibrancy of the colour palette makes these a complete outfit statement that needs very little additional effort around them.
Travel and holiday: Lightweight, packable and versatile enough to go from a morning yoga class to a walk through a market to an evening meal. The bold print travels well without looking crumpled or out of place in a range of settings.
How to Style Them
The print is complex enough that the rest of the outfit benefits from simplicity. The trick with bold boho prints is to let the leggings lead and keep everything else minimal:
- Yoga studio: Plain white or black fitted crop top or sports bra. Clean and simple. The print does the work and nothing competes with it. White tops in particular bring out the brightness of the colours against the black base.
- Festival look: White cotton crop top or vest, sandals or espadrilles. The combination reads as effortlessly boho without any styling effort. The elephant and mandala print needs no accessories to look complete.
- Casual street style: Oversized white or cream linen shirt worn open over a fitted top, flat sandals or white trainers. Cool, relaxed and genuinely different from most casual outfits.
- Gym outfit: Plain black sports bra or vest. The most functional combination. Keeps the look purposeful and athletic without the print being distracting.
- Holiday or travel wear: Loose linen top or kaftan-style cover-up in a complementary colour. Orange, turquoise, yellow and pink all appear in the print, so any of these work as a top colour without clashing.

Size Guide
Measure your natural waist at the narrowest point and your hips at the fullest point before ordering. All measurements are in centimetres. The 3D cut means the rear panels have more shape than a standard legging, so if you are between sizes and want a secure fit around the hips, go with the smaller size. For guidance on finding the right fit, see our guide to choosing comfortable leggings.
| UK Size | Waist (cm) | Hips (cm) | Length (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| S (UK 6-8) | 60 to 64 | 74 to 78 | 87 |
| M (UK 8-10) | 65 to 69 | 79 to 83 | 89 |
| L (UK 10-12) | 70 to 74 | 84 to 88 | 90 |
| XL (UK 12-14) | 75 to 79 | 89 to 93 | 92 |
| XXL (UK 14-16) | 80 to 84 | 94 to 98 | 94 |
Allow up to 2cm variation due to manual measuring. For a compression-style fit, choose the smaller size. For more room around the hips, go up a size.
Care Instructions
The full rainbow colour palette in this print, particularly the bright pinks, oranges and blues, benefits from consistent care to stay vivid. See our article on caring for polyester clothing for a full guide to maintaining printed activewear.
- Hand wash in cool water. Machine washing is too abrasive for a print of this complexity and will cause the colours to shift faster over time.
- Turn inside out before washing. This protects the print surface from friction during the wash and is the most effective step for preserving colour and print quality.
- Wash separately from light-coloured garments for the first few washes. The deeper dyes in the pink, blue and green sections can transfer slightly until they are fully set.
- Do not use bleach. Bleach damages the print and breaks down the spandex fibres, reducing the stretch and lifespan of the fabric.
- Do not use fabric softener. It coats the polyester fibres and reduces the moisture-wicking performance of the fabric over time.
- Hang to dry at room temperature away from direct sunlight. UV exposure causes fading, particularly in bright saturated prints like this one.
- Do not tumble dry.
- If pressing is needed, use a cool iron on the reverse side only. Do not iron directly on the print surface.
