High waist Day of the Dead sugar skull leggings for women. Bold white base with large decorative sugar skull faces, pink roses, teal botanicals, yellow and diamond detail, and fine scrollwork across every panel. Four-way stretch, moisture-wicking performance fabric suitable for gym, yoga and Halloween or Day of the Dead events.
These leggings take the sugar skull aesthetic and push it to its brightest possible expression. Where most skull print leggings default to a dark background, this design works entirely on white, which gives every element of the print maximum room to breathe and every colour maximum vibrancy. The result is one of the most visually striking pairs in the entire range. The skulls are large, detailed and festive rather than dark or gothic, and the pink roses, teal leaves, yellow scrollwork and diamond motifs that surround them give the design an energy that sits closer to Day of the Dead celebration art than to Halloween.
They are built on the same 88% polyester and 12% spandex performance blend used across this range. Four-way stretch, fast-drying moisture-wicking fabric and a high-rise waistband that holds its position make them as suited to training as to any cultural or Halloween event. At £14.99 with free UK delivery, they are one of the brightest and most detailed leggings available in this collection.
About the Print Design
The design is rooted in the visual tradition of Day of the Dead, the Mexican cultural celebration observed in late October and early November. Día de los Muertos art is characterised by intricately decorated sugar skull imagery, vivid colours, floral motifs and a celebratory rather than mournful relationship with the skull as a symbol. This print captures that aesthetic fully.
The sugar skulls are the dominant element and they are rendered at a scale large enough to be seen in full detail. Each skull has the characteristic features of traditional calavera art: large round eye sockets filled with decorative floral or mandala-style detail, a broad nose cavity rendered as a spade shape, and a wide grinning mouth showing rows of stylised teeth edged in yellow and pink. Pink roses sit above each skull as a crown, while teal botanical leaf forms and curling yellow scrollwork fill the spaces around the facial features.
Between the skull elements, the design scatters additional motifs: full pink roses with detailed petals, teal diamond gem shapes, yellow daisy-style flowers, black spade symbols and fine ornamental swirl lines that tie the composition together. The overall density of the print is high but not cluttered because the white background gives the eye enough space to read each element separately.
The back view shows two large sugar skull faces positioned symmetrically across the seat and upper thigh, with the detailed eye and mouth features at full scale, crowned by pink roses and surrounded by diamond, flower and botanical detail. The lower leg continues the scattered floral and scrollwork pattern.
As with all designs in this range, the print is embedded directly into the fabric and does not crack, peel or fade with correct care and washing.
How This Differs from the Skulls and Blooms Halloween Leggings
Both designs in this range feature sugar skulls and roses, but they are distinct products with a different character. The Skulls and Blooms Halloween Leggings use a black base with red roses and a darker, more Halloween-appropriate tone. These Sugar Skull Fiesta Leggings use a white base with pink roses, teal botanicals and a much brighter, more festive palette drawn directly from Day of the Dead art. The black base version reads as gothic and Halloween-forward. This white base version reads as celebratory and culturally vibrant, with a visual energy closer to Mexican folk art than to horror aesthetics. Both are excellent. They appeal to different moods and different occasions.

Fabric and Performance
The fabric is an 88% polyester and 12% spandex blend. Polyester provides the smooth, durable surface that keeps the print sharp and the colours vivid. On a white base design like this one, the quality of the polyester weave is particularly important because any imperfection in the fabric surface shows more readily against white than it would against black. The smooth finish also allows the fine scrollwork and small detail elements in this design to reproduce cleanly across the full length of the leg. Spandex provides the four-way elasticity that keeps the leggings comfortable for extended training sessions and all-day wear.
The moisture-wicking technology draws perspiration away from the skin as it forms, spreads it across a wider area of the fabric and evaporates it quickly. This is especially useful for a white-base legging, where visible sweat patches would be more apparent than on a dark fabric. The fast-dry construction minimises that risk and keeps the leggings looking and feeling clean throughout a session. For more on how the blend performs in activewear, see our guide to spandex blend performance fabric.
The Waistband
The high-rise elasticated waistband sits wide and flat across the lower abdomen, holding its position without rolling down or folding over during movement or extended wear. It provides a firm, secure hold without cutting in or restricting breathing and gives a smooth, flattering silhouette under fitted tops. Because it is made from the same stretch fabric as the rest of the legging rather than a separate rigid panel, it moves naturally with the body and does not create an uncomfortable edge at the waist.
What Are They Good For?
Gym and training: Four-way stretch, moisture-wicking and squat-proof construction hold up across training sessions, yoga classes and runs. The white base and vivid print give these a freshness that makes them one of the more distinctive gym looks in this range.
Day of the Dead events: The sugar skull print is rooted in Day of the Dead cultural tradition. For Día de los Muertos events in late October and early November, these leggings are culturally appropriate and visually authentic without requiring a full costume. Paired with a black or white fitted top and simple accessories, they work as a complete look.
Halloween parties: The sugar skull aesthetic has become a strong part of Halloween fashion beyond the strict Day of the Dead cultural context. These work well for Halloween events, particularly for anyone who prefers a more vibrant, colourful look to the darker, more gothic Halloween aesthetic. For more outfit ideas, see our Halloween costume ideas guide.
Festivals and casual wear: The bold white base and saturated colour palette make these a strong festival choice, particularly for daytime wear where the brightness of the design reads well in natural light. They also work through autumn as a casual street style piece for anyone drawn to Mexican folk art and alternative fashion.
How to Style Them
- Gym or yoga: Plain white or black fitted sports bra or vest. White picks up the base and lets the print colours stand out. Black creates strong contrast against the white leggings and gives the overall look a clean, high-contrast quality.
- Day of the Dead event: Simple black or white fitted top, dark floral accessories if desired. The leggings carry the cultural theme clearly on their own without needing anything elaborate around them.
- Halloween party: Black fitted top or bodysuit, black boots or platform shoes. Letting the leggings lead keeps the look from becoming too busy.
- Festival: Cropped white or black denim jacket, white trainers. The bright white base of the leggings reads particularly well in daylight festival settings. Very little additional colour is needed in the outfit.
- Casual street style: Oversized white or cream knit worn open over a black top, ankle boots. The white leggings and white outerwear create a clean, coherent palette and the print provides all the visual interest needed.

Care Instructions
The white base of this design requires extra attention during washing. Any colour transfer from other garments or from the print itself will be more visible on white than on a dark fabric. See our article on caring for polyester clothing for a full guide to maintaining printed activewear.
- Hand wash in cool water. Machine washing is too abrasive and increases the risk of colour bleed on a white base fabric.
- Turn inside out before washing. This protects the print surface from friction and is the most effective single step for preserving both the print and the white base.
- Wash separately from all other garments, particularly darker colours. The white base is susceptible to picking up dye transfer from other fabrics in the wash.
- Do not use bleach. Despite the white base, bleach will damage the printed areas and break down the spandex fibres, causing the fabric to lose elasticity.
- Do not use fabric softener. It coats the polyester fibres and reduces the moisture-wicking performance of the fabric over time.
- Hang to dry at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. UV exposure causes yellowing on white fabric and fading in the coloured print elements over time.
- Do not tumble dry.
- If pressing is needed, use a cool iron on the reverse side only. Do not apply heat directly to the print surface.
